Home: Ottawa County, Michigan.  Enlisted Aug. 16, 1861, at Muskegon, Michigan, for 3 years, age 25.  Mustered Oct. 15, 1861.  Disinterred, in 1868, from the "Michigan Cemetery" on the adjacent hill southwest of Fort Duffield, West Point, Kentucky and moved to the New Albany National Cemetery.   "1st single grave north of trench and dug at same time and included in trench ... in metallic case" - National Cemetery Ledger, page 61.  Record of Service of Michigan Volunteers ... Vol. 9, page 52, lists his Death Date as February 1, 1862.
Cause of Death: Hemorrhage of the Bowels.
